Ikariaka Dromena – Festival Ikarias in collaboration with the Perdiki Cultural Association “To Perdiki,” is organizing two photography exhibitions at the Perdiki Elementary School. The exhibitions will be open from August 17 through August 25, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

A brief photographic journey through time and space to a small village.
This photography exhibition, hosted in the village’s Old Elementary School, aims to trace the journey and path charted by the people of this village through historical events (World War II, the Asia Minor refugees, emigration), as well as moments from their daily lives filled with hardships, laughter, and celebrations.
The photographs—some from family archives and others taken by Themis Speis, though all seen through his perspective—are a journey through time via the people who shaped the history of this small village.
These photographs are not merely a reflection of the past; they keep it alive and invite us to pause for a moment and recognize how the memory of a place can always be human.
At the same time, at the upper floor of the Old Elementary School of Perdiki the photographic installation Side story by Ioannis Tzaneteas will be presented.
“Back in September 2023, I returned to Ikaria from Athens for the second time in a short period. There, I felt the need to explore the mountains and the seas on foot, with my camera in hand, and to capture whatever and whoever caught my eye.
The result of this process was several dozen shots, some of which found their way into the side story collection.
From my visits to the coast, to the roadsides, to the antefixes on the roofs of the houses, a mosaic of what I call Ikaria took shape. All these memories are placed in front of Plexiglas boxes, creating a story like a short film. The story that lies on the edge.”
